Psychiatric Solutions, Inc. Ranked as One of Best Mid-Cap Stocks in U.S. by Forbes Magazine

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - (Oct. 12, 2009) - For the third consecutive year, Psychiatric Solutions, Inc. ("PSI") (NASDAQ: PSYS) has made Forbes' list of the 100 Best Mid-Cap Stocks in America.

PSI, which is the largest operator of psychiatric inpatient facilities in the country, ranked No. 38 on the list just released by the media outlet. Forbes' annual listing of the Best Mid-Cap Companies in America reflects an elite group of 100 firms that have demonstrated better profitability and growth than their peers.

This year, PSI is one of only 16 companies that made a repeat performance in the top 100 on the Forbes' list. Last year, PSI ranked No. 18, and in 2007, it took the No. 9 spot.

Forbes' definition of mid-cap companies is public corporations with a market value between $750 million and $3.3 billion. To compile the ranking, the media outlet put more than 1,000 qualifying companies through a screen for profitability and growth over the past year. It also reviewed corporate news and security analyst reports on each firm, in addition to an independent research firm's scores for having transparent accounting methods and more shareholder-friendly governance practices.
