Outpatient Services
|

Outpatient therapy is one of the most direct, affordable and individualized treatment options which can effectively address a wide array of non-emergency mental health concerns. Outpatient therapy is provided by licensed mental health professionals. The outpatient therapist may work in tandem with a physician who oversees medication. Treatment approaches are flexible depending on the client's needs, and may include individual therapy, family therapy or other specialized interventions. Outpatient therapy generally occurs 1-2 hours per week, no more than twice per week, although intensity can vary according to the individual's needs. Duration of treatment depends on treatment goals agreed mutually between the patient and clinician.
Advantages of Outpatient:
- Individual lives at home
- Treatment interventions are limited, but highly individualized
- Children and adolescents continue to attend regular school classes
- Occasional use of group therapies
- Least intensive, least expensive treatment option
