Three Rivers Behavioral Health Residents Raise Money For Quake Victims

A 15-year-old girl undergoing treatment at Three Rivers Behavioral Health, a Psychiatric Solutions (PSI) facility, saw the devastation from the earthquake that hit Haiti in January and wanted to help. She, along with other residents of the Saluda Cove Residential Treatment Program at Three Rivers Behavioral, decided to have their own bake sale and send 100 percent of the profits to relief efforts in Haiti.

Teaching Assistant Brenda Sommer and Katie Martin, a Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Social Worker, helped the residents shop for ingredients and prepare the baked goods. The sweet treats were sold to employees in the hospital in West Columbia, S.C.

During the one day event in February, $326 was raised. All the proceeds went to Doctors Without Borders, an international medical humanitarian organization, for its relief effort in Haiti.
